Non-renewable Energy Sources

There are many sources of energy in the world today. These sources include Oil, Hydropower, Coal, Oil, and Coal. But, not all energy sources can be renewable. These sources are difficult to substitute by natural processes. These energy sources are often referred to as "non-renewable". It is therefore important to find alternative energy sources. Let's examine some examples of such resources.

Natural gas

The U.S. has an extensive natural gas use. Texas is the largest user of natural gas, using 52% of it to generate electricity. Texas has large populations, commerce and industry. Therefore, natural gas is very important for Texas. California is next but California uses 54% fewer natural gas than Texas. Natural gas is not renewable and is hard to store.

Oil

Many people think that oil is not a source of renewable energy. It has a high net energy yield but it can also have negative effects. Burning oil can result in air pollution and even contribute to global climate change. It is also a major cause of smog. It is caused by oil burning in power plants and industrial plants. When oil is burned, it releases harmful toxins into the atmosphere. It also emits carbon dioxide which is a greenhouse gases.

Coal

It is a non-renewable source of energy that can take millions of years to produce. Coal, a combustible and flammable sedimentary rock, is mostly made up of carbon and other hydrocarbons. This fossil fuel comes mainly from the remains and remains of prehistoric creatures and plants. Coal is a fossil fuel and can be used to produce electricity, transport, or heat. Here are some facts on coal.

Hydropower

Hydropower is an older, non-renewable source of energy that can be used in electricity generation. Appleton in Wisconsin was home to the first hydroelectric power dam. It was an innovative idea that quickly spread throughout the country. Famous dams from the West, like the Hoover Dam, provided 40% of the country's electricity in the 1930s.

Nuclear energy

Although nuclear energy offers many benefits, it is not renewable. Because of the limited uranium resources on the planet, this is why it is non-renewable. The source must be viable for a long time in order to be considered sustainable. Uranium is classified non-renewable as an energy source by the U.S. Department of Energy. It cannot regenerate unless the source of uranium changes.

Uranium

While uranium is abundant in the earth’s crust, it is still a scarce resource. Uranium must be extracted, used, and disposed of. It is a fissile energy and produces no carbon emissions. It is used in nuclear reactors to produce heat, which powers turbines and generates electricity. Unlike other fossil fuels uranium doesn't produce toxic byproducts.
